GENERAL INFORMATIONS
The RMO169 is an high quality VHF Radiomodem in simplex or half duplex mode, characterised by a maximum R.F power of 500 mWERP in the 169.400 – 169.475 MHz band, dedicated to a TOLL FREE USE in according to the European Decision 2005/928/CE. This directive, valid in each country of the European Community, reserve 6 channels in this band dedicated to meter reading, with consequential commands or activations, tracing and tracking asset systems The device is available in four version. The RMO169 is the simplest realisation specially designed for system integrators/manufacturer and characterised by the direct TTL interfacing with a microcontroller unit. The RMO169 – IN is the same device with the RS-232/RS-485 interface boards RMO4IN or RMO4IN2 to permit the direct interfacing with an existing system. For both radiomodem models, a RG 316 coaxial cable of 25 centimetres (10 inches) length, with a TNC or BNC bulkhead jack, is used to connect the aerial. The RMO169 – B – IN is the RMO169 – IN card in an oxide-coated aluminium box with a BNC jack connector for the aerial and, finally, the RMO169–B–IN–Y3 is the previous device with the 3 element Yagi antenna and, in this case, the transmitter output power is reduced to compensate the aerial gain to keep the maximum radiated power.
For all the above mentioned devices the functionality is fully transparent to the user and the programming is simple using the Configuration software to be installed in a personal computer with Windows ‘95→XP operative systems.
Specific characteristics:
- Turning ON/OFF by the DTR criteria with less than 100 nA leakage current in DTR OFF condition - Low power consumption both in RX than TX mode and Power saving utility settable by configuration software - Broadcasting or addresses management by configuration software or directly by DTE - Digipeater mode to allow communications between hidden units. In these events the direct communication is generally impossible - Remote configuration and channel change directly from DTE - Others advanced configuration utilities as ACK and message resending, Echo, utilisation of received addresses for the answer etc.
All devices are assembled in SMT technology with industrial temperature range components and are specially designed for Low cost Radio Networks where the contemporary necessities of low power consumption, e.g due to a battery or solar cells supply, and an high quality are fundamentals in the device choice.
